The concept for this collection
of stoneware was inspired by the two Zen aesthetics of Wabi
and Sabi. Wabi is the beauty found in things simple, imperfect
and natural. Sabi is the beauty found in things worn and weathered
with time and use. Together, Wabi-Sabi describes a beauty of
things imperfect and impermanent, a beauty of things modest
and humble.
The stoneware I chose for these items was a rich, brown
body full of texture, both visually and tactilely.
